Calling the Verizon Benefits Center When You Plan to Retire

When you decide to retire from Verizon, you will most likely contact the Verizon Benefits Center to elect and specify the commencement dates of your pension, health care, and other retiree benefits.

Navigating your communications with the Benefits Center can sometimes feel overwhelming. There are countless nuances to Verizon retirement benefits, such as Verizon 401(k), Life Insurance Benefits, Retiree Medical Benefits, and a raft of paperwork to fill out and submit.

And let’s face it. You’re one of hundreds of people calling them every single day, and they are doing their best to answer your questions as quickly and efficiently as possible. While they may be doing their best, that might not be good enough for you.

That’s where we come in.

H&A has over 20 years of experience making Verizon workers’ retirement easy. We’ve compiled this quick guide to help you navigate the tricky process of calling the Verizon Benefits Center, helping you to be as informed as possible when planning your retirement.

Three Tips for a Streamlined Experience When Calling the Verizon Benefits Center

From our experience, we believe it’s important to advocate for yourself when working with the Benefits Center. So, here are three tips for a more pleasant and streamlined experience when calling the Benefits Center.

  • Call the Verizon Benefits Center as soon as representatives are available at 9 a.m. EST, Monday through Friday. Your wait time will most likely be shorter. The Center is especially busy during times of Retirement Offers when your wait time could be an hour or longer.
  • Insist that the Benefits Representative prepares the pension election forms and sends them to your secure BenefitsConnection account. Have them do the work for you! That’s their job, and they should accommodate your request. There may be times when your pension needs to be manually calculated, so they must mail the pension election forms to you.
  • Don’t assume anything! The Benefits representative may say they will call you back on a specific date to confirm your elections. Often, they won’t call you. It is imperative that you take the initiative of calling the Benefits Center to confirm your pension and benefit elections are in good order.
